    Hey everyone, I bought a Linksys Rangeplus a while ago, and I'm trying to get it all hooked up in my apartment but it's not working. I live at Rutgers, and in order to get online, I must use my computer's IP address (so I have to change the router's IP to match my computer's). But here's the trouble - my computer's IP address is 192.12.88.8, but when I ran ipconfig, it says the following:
    Connection-specific DNS Suffix : rutgers.edu
    Link-local IPv6 Address: fe80::fd24:cd1e:a878:b15e%8
    IPv4 Address: 172.30.127.203
    Subnet Mask: 225.225.225.192
    Default Gateway: 172.30.127.192
    My school uses IPv4 type connection, but the IPv4 address doesn't match my default IP address.

    On the Linksys router setup up page, I chose Static IP as the connection type because only things with my computer's IP can use the internet here. And I'm prompted to fill the following sections:
    Internet IP Address: for this I filled in the IPv4 address, and Linksys says the IP address doesn't exist, so I used the 192 number.
    Subnet Mask: for this I used all the Subnet numbers under 225.225.225.(0-252), and none works with my IP. Linksys says that Subnet Mask are Invalid.
    Default Gateway: for this I used 172.30.127.192
    DNS1/2/3: Not sure what these are so I left them blank

    Router IP Address: What should I put for this section? The 172 IP or 198 IP?
    Router Subnet Mask: Should this one be 225.225.225.192 as well?

    Are your computers ip settings set on fixed or automatic?

    Did you have your computers mac address registered with school network when you first connected or does any computer work with the wall plug if you just plug it in?

    He indicated it works when direct connect.

    You need to clone the MAC address of your computer into the router. This way the router will look like your pc.

    Now if they gave you a IP address your static. But if your pc picked it up you need to set the router up as DHCP with the pc MAC address.
