    Hello
I have 3 PCs, two of them have a WiFi built-in, I'd like to make a local connection between these three PCs.

PC.1 is connected to PC.2 by Ethernet cable
PC.2 is connected to PC.3 by Wireless

I set IP each of them, the outcomes were:
    - PC.2 could find both.
    - PC.1 couldn't find PC.3 and PC.3 couldn't find PC.1.
    - PC.3 and PC.1 could find PC.2

So how can I make a connection between PC.1 and PC.3 through PC.2 for sharing files and playing games?

P.S. I don't have any routers or hubs.

    Thanks

Any reason why you haven't bought a router?

PC 2 needs to be set up to forward between different networks. Essentially it acts as a router. I'm certain there are many tutorials on how to do this

I need the gateways and DNS servers for each. And from what I see, you set up the IP settings incorrectly. Each interface type has to have different network address. All those appear to be on the same network.

You need to bridge the two networks.

Go to PC 2. If under Vista and Windows 7, under Network and Sharing center, choose manage adapter settings (I think). Select your wired and wireless connections together, using Ctrl+click. Right click one of them and select "bridge connections." That should work.

    edit:

Even though they are on the same subnetwork, they are not not on the same "collision" network. Or basically they aren't physically linked. That's what bridging the networks will do.

Oh yeah, you can keep those IP addresses. They are fine.

You are correct in advising that setup. And I suppose that is the set up that best suits his needs. However, I was trying to provide him with a more scalable option where he can access internet by using one of the PCs as Gateway. I would recommend to the original poster that he does follow your post above, but if ever he wants to access the internet, then he can simply post back or PM me.

I figured he didn't mention his internet connection for a reason. So I'll leave it at that. If there is a router connected SOMEWHERE in there, it might change things. Unlikely though.

    Thanks guys for replying.

There are no DNS and gateways for each.

I did your steps and Windows created a new connection called "Network Bridge", my question is do I need to set an IP for it and what's it?

There is no internet and and routers connected to these three PCs.

There is no need to assign a separate IP address to it.
What is it? Essentially, it is a network bridge.

Just Kidding, I'll try to give a better description. Network traffic on the wireless connection won't magically hop through PC2 and onto the wired connection on its own. It needs a "bridge" to hop from network to network, since the wireless card and the wired port are two separate devices.

You can find better descriptions on wiki.

    I set the following IPs
    PC.1: 192.168.0.10
    PC.2 (Network Bridge): 192.168.0.20
    PC.3: 192.168.0.30

It worked perfectly, now the three PCs are connected to each other and each one of them can share files with both.

Thank you so much for helping and thanks to anybody who tried and replied to this thread.

I guess this is possible, Try step by step procedure, Try connecting PC.1 to PC. 2 After having success with that, Connect PC. 2 to PC. 3 (With Wifi).

I guess you'll have problem with the hierarchy with the PCs because unlike when you have a switch/router, there is a "level" playing field where the PCs will meet.

    Just a suggestion
