OK, I'm in the process of choosing my T61 configuration. I'm still bewildered by wireless technology.

I'm going to spend a lot of time in a rural area which is somewhat marginal for all the carriers. There's no guarantee that a wireless aircard will even work out there.

The choices I have for the T61 for wireless WAN are: Cingular GSM technology, or Verizon Sierra CDMA. The Cingular one costs $50 extra. Is there any advantage in the Cingular one?

Or can I just wait and buy an aircard in the future if there's decent coverage, and I arrange for service with a particular phone company?

Also, the computer comes with integrated WAN as well. What's the difference between integrated WAN and the Verizon or Cingular WAN?

Also, does Bluetooth factor into any of these decisions? I don't know yet what Bluetooth is.

If I'll be in a marginal area, is the speed of connection any better than dialup? (which isn't an option, because there are no landline phones there.)

Please help me understand what are the best options to put onto my T61...

    Thanks.

I live in a rural area. As far as I know you can only get dial-up speed here in the boonies.
