    Hi,

I just got the Thinkpad T410S laptop, however, I'm not satisfied with the wireless card preinstalled so I'm planning to change it for a better one.

Currently it's just Thinkpad BGN wireless, specific model is 11b/g/n Wireless LAN Mini-PCI Express Adapter II, I see the Lenovo official web has options for Intel Advanced-N 6200 and Ultimate-N 6300. These two cards can be found on eBay or other websites.

My question is, do you guys know other better options than 6200 or 6300? I want the best coverage and speed. Well, as the T410S has only 2 antennas, 6300 seems impossible but if you guys could tell me how to install another antenna I'll really appreciate it.

I've also seen other cards like Intel PRO/Wireless 2915abg-NA, but seems they don't work with ThankPad.

    So, any suggestions?

    Thank you!

A lot of a card's coverage is related to the antennas as well as the card itself. I'm not sure that replacing your wireless card will give you much more performance.

Can you change any settings for the drivers to do with transmit strength or anything?

I didn't see any settings for improving the performance of the wireless card. Or maybe I don't know where it is.

I see lots of other laptops are intalled at lease Advanced-N 6200 card, so I think that might be better.

I'm not so familiar with wireless performance so really need help on those things.

You can increase power and focus your wireless card on the channel that your router is using by going to network card settings (click configure Lenovo BGN under wireless properties).

Keep in mind that the intel card must be whitelisted in the T410's BIOS for it to work properly. A random 6200 off ebay may/may not work with it.

In the Toughbooks we use the EnGenus 8602+S Wi-Fi card. They are 600mW and a vast improvement over the OEM equipped Intels. The Toughbooks already have a good Wi-Fi antenna system, but if your notebook does not then an improvement in that area will most likely improvements as well.

The card goes for approximately $30.
I do not know if it work in your computer. I know when I had a Thinkpad I grew tired of the devices that would not work in it due to the BIOs check.

= =...could you please tell me how to do that check...I just want to make things work better, really don't know stuffs like BIOS or something...

well, ASUS has perfect laptops especially their gaming laptops, but they are heavier for me to carry. You know, girls are not that strong. I need to carry it every day to school and sometimes to class, i don't want to pack a 6.5lbs laptop everywhere. Including performance into consideration, Thinkpad T410s, X201, and SONY VAIO Z series would be the best. Well, you might know the prices of the Z series, really impossible for me as a student. So, that's why I stick to ThinkPad T410s.

your right about that.. Asus gaming laptops do have heavier laptops but the buisness and consumer lines are quite average... in fact hp is quite heavy.. my Dv5t which is 15.4 inch is 6.0lbs.. without the adapter.. talk about be nice and light but depends person to person.. like u said , if thinkpad is best for u , stick with it.. no harm done..

    = =could you find a N6200 card for me?

I've purchased one from eBay but it's not recognized by the BIOS, I can't even boot up the laptop with the card. So, that won't work I think.

So, could you find a N 6200 card within the whitelist? or something that'll work for T410s?

    Thank you!
