Currently running Windows 10.
A friend suggested an Intel AC-7260/5 Mini-PCiE but I do not want Bluetooth. My friend said the PCiE slot on my machine does not have a third pin to run Bluetooth but I can not tell if it does or not. My system does have a separate connector specifically for Bluetooth but that does not mean the PCiE slot does not have the third pin.
How can I tell myself if the PCiE slot has the third pin or what would be another good adapter card without Bluetooth?

The 7260 is a very good 2x2 card and I'm sure you can disable the Bluetooth in Device Manager.Performance will largely depend the settings and which router you connect it to.It is supported in Windows 7,8,8.1 and 10
The 7260 supports 802.11ac and is backward compatible to A,B,G and N
I had one in an old MSI notebook and another in an Intel desktop adapter.I still have them in a drawer.
Which OS are you running?I ask this because I understand that the N-1000 is not supported in Windows 10 and is an end of life product that has not received new driver support in about 2 years.
IMO the 5ghz band is far superior in performance to the 2.4ghz band.
Is your router dual band? -
Thank you for the advice. I have read that even if a card is compatible with my machine it still have to be made for my brand.
If I find a network card with the same part number as mine but my computer is not listed on the part's web page will it be compatible? -
What notebook do you have (brand)? -

Lenovo actually uses white-listing so your concern is valid. You need a Lenovo part for that, not just any card.

you'd probably find many 7260 and other mini pcie lenovo cards on ebay but before buying any card you should contact lenovo support and ask which cards will work in your model.
then ask the ebay seller about compatibility and returns
i don't know if there are any modded bios for your model to bypass the white-listing.
what do people suggest in the lenovo furum?
i don't have any 1st hand knowledge about whitelisting of wifi cards
i've had mostly msi and sager notebooks for a long time.
Need a replacement card for a Intel Centrino-N 1000
