    Hi all,

Little wireless problem I'm hoping you guys can help me with. I just bought a ASUS G1S about 3 weeks ago and have set up a wireless network using the Linksys WRT54G. Everthing worked fine untill I got back from a weekend trip. I now can connect to the router and see my PC but I can't connect to the internet like I use to. In Vista when I go to my connections it show a X over the line connecting my notebook to the internet. ANy suggestions.

    Thanks

Oh man, that can be a lot of things. What did you try yourself so far, and how experienced are you with computers?

If you haven't tried anything yet; are you sure you haven't been disconnected by your isp? Have you tried to unplug and plug the power connector to your router (to reset it), and can you connect to the internet using a ethernet (wired) connection?

I haven't tried anything yet...haven't real had time.. I did run the diagnistic repair thing in Vista...It told me it told me that I had a problem with contecting to the DSN or something. The weird thing is that I can connect to the router but I only have Local Access not web access. Its really weird since I been able to connect fine for almost a month of haveing the notebook up intill 2 days ago. I know there is nothing wrong withthe notebook since I connected to an unsecure wireless network comeing from a house near by. That is how I'm useing the internet now. But I guess I will try re-installing the router to the PC.

    1. try to connect to your own network and than do "ipconfig /all" in command prompt, and than paste results here.

    2. try pinging your gateway (that'd be a router you have)

    3. try pinging 72.14.207.99 (address resolved for google from my network)

    4. try using nslookup in command prompt (from c:/> prompt type in "nslookup", than type in google.com or yahoo.com or anything, just to see if dns is really working)

once you're through with this, paste results or answer those first few questions, and than we'll move on...
