Hey guys, CompUSA has the NetGear WGU624 on sale for $49.99 this week and I am heading to pick it up. Will the Wireless Router be what I need, or will I need a Wireless Access Point? This is my first time going wireless, so I will need a little help.

First and foremost, my roommate has a Sony VIAO desktop, in which he will still run wires. My notebook is the Inspiron 6000 which I will want to go wireless and access the net.

    My question is, will this:

Allow us both to be on the same internet connection? Me wireless, him wired? If so, how simple will it be? Does anyone use this particular model?

    Thanks,

    Will

Yes, you can run wireless and wired connection on that router. Anubis wrote detailed instructions on how to set up a wireless router in his sticky (part 2).

You first have to connect your's or your roommate's laptop to the router via ethernet cable cause wireless connection is disable by default. Follow the sticky, and it will walk you thru the step by step to enable and secure your wireless connection.

I have a Netgear 614, and I know Anubis and several others have netgear routers. They are a very good brand and are user friendly.
