    Need Help with Wireless!

    I have a notebook and a computer connected in a hub.I need do a Peer-to-Peer with that computer.I create a lan using win xp 64, and put ad hoc and not using a wep or wap, configure static ip for notebook and desktop.Notebook show the lan but, never auto connect and need put dhcp to connect sometimes not, sometimes need static to connect sometimes not.Very messy!Plz help me.

    Hi robson,

    First, did you read Nick's wireless guide? You will find it on Wireless forum.

    Second, I don't understand your post. Do you have a Wireless router? Or just plain Lan hub? If it is the second, then there is no WEP or WPA (not WAP).

    If your "hub" is actually a wireless router and there is a hub/switch with UTP RJ-45 ports on it, and desktop computer is connected by wire and notebook connects wirelessly, then it is another story.

    There can be different combinations, but I recommend this:

    From desktop computer access the router and make sure it has the DHCP on. If your desktop is connected to the router's hub (switch) it will get some address (remove static IP settings first). Now go to notebook, turn on wireless, remove all static address settings, and DHCP from the router should make your notebook get the IP address. You have your network. Check sharings and permissions first.
