Hard drive just crashed and therefore my laptop was just re-imaged at work. Since then, I have been able to get internet at home on my wireless network. I know my wireless network is just fine, as I'm actually on my son's machine (same model) now.

    Details:
Dell Latitude D610.....Dell Wireless WLAN Card Utility....Diagnostics.....Connection Diagnostics.....Run.....

I get DNS IP ping failed.

The Info states that the DNS server for the network is not reachable. You will be able to connect to the internet if you use the IP address as the URL, but not if you use the domain name.

Well, so I type in a known IP address and I get to the internet. This tells me my network is just fine, but something is wrong in my PC.

So, what do I need to do to get this fixed. The IT guy today ran some file at work but it didn't help. Everything worked fine before the hard drive crashed and the computer was re-imaged. Any help would be greatly appreciated, as I don't want to wait until next week to try the next step in my IT guys bag of tricks.

    Thanks

Check the port settings and make sure it is set to get everything automaticly. DNS and DHCP can be either or.

My guess is that it has the gateway ip instead of the DNS server names.
