when i connect my laptop thru LAN @ lan port using rj45 cable, it is not detecting any network or fast ethernet connection and when i diagnose the problem using the diagnostic page it responds as TURN ON YOUR BLUETOOTH... ip address detection is at auto assign...

i also checked if my laptop does support this lan port @ network adapter page in device manager but what was there is all about WLAN, i then try to check at bios set up if that port were disabled but what i found were LAN REMOTE BOOT ENABLE/DISABLE only...is this mean that my unit could not be used to this lan???

i tried to use another laptop with same cable connection and it works...is there any possible settings that i must do????

i desperately need help & i hope someone could guide me... thanks

    my unit is: Amilo xi2428

It sounds like you might need to uninstall the drivers for your wired ethernet adapter and then reinstall them.

The LAN Remote Boot option is for Remote Access from another computer - it allows it to be accessed and rebooted remotely without anyone being present. This is common for IT workplaces and support companies like mine who access systems across the planet when no one is around, and might need to reboot the system.

WLAN is your Wireless Network / Adapter. It has no effect on your Ethernet port. When you plug in the cable, you should see activity, i.e., there should be LED activity at the cable/port.

You have to first setup any network before it can be detected.

    1. Control Panel, Network & Sharing.
    2. Click on Setup a New Connection, then Wireless/Broadband (top selection)
    3. Follow the instructions to set it up.
    4. Once it's set, in the N&S window click on Network Connections.
    5. Find the connection you just setup - highlight it, then click on Enable, then Connect. If you're connected to your Ethernet port via Cat-5e cable, it should automatically detect the network connection and the Internet.
