Hello, not sure how to word this but I can no longer get to the web-based utility or "settings" page of my new router.

Using 192.168.1.1 It worked the first couple times and now I get an Explorer error saying "Internet Exporer cannot display the webpage"

Internet works fine and I am connected at 270Mbps.

    Thanks for the help.

    Jim

you can try typing in "gateway" to the address bar...
else, go to cmd and use the netstat command... there is a specific variation of netstat you need though.... so i advise you google "find my internal IP"

The problem isn't with your Router - your IE settings have changed, likely as a result of a Windows or IE update. Microsoft updates tend to change IE and other Windows settings to default and if you're not aware of it, it can be a real pain. The other possibility is your Windows Firewall - if you had an update sometimes the Firewall settings can be reset as well and you may need add your Router IP address again.

Open up IE, go to Tools, then Internet Options. Click on "Trusted Sites", then on the Sites button. Put the Admin Panel address in the "Add this website to this zone" field then click on Add to add it to the list. Make sure you uncheck Server Verification below the field.

You can also click on the Internet icon and adjust the zone security level to Medium. Click on the Advanced Tab and review all settings to make sure nothing was changed - this is usually where any updates cause problems.

I ran all the relevant cmd commands I could find and they all return with 192.168.1.1

CyberVisions, I did as you suggested but to no avail. BUT, I do believe you are right about it being an IE thing.

Also, I had a Vista service pack update Windows a few days ago. could this have changed things in Explorer?

    Any other suggestions?

On the machine itself...disconnect from the network. Unplug the power cord to the Router and plug it back in. Re-connect to the network and try again.

Try firefox, and see if that can view it. If not, try 192.168.0.1. If neither of those are doing anything, open up a command prompt (Start menu, Run, type "cmd" then hit enter) and ping the router. "ping 192.168.1.1" (without the quotes on both commands)

    Which model router is it?

My router is a Linksys WRT310N

Firefox gives me the same error as IE.

    192.168.0.1 does not work

Pinging gives me the following results:

I did a hard reset using the red button on the back of the router. I had to start over a bit and re-establish a couple things but I have access to the settings again.

I appreciate everyones input and I learned a few new things along the way.

    thanks,
    Jim
