    Nas not recognizing Harddrives.

    So i have the DNS-323, & i attached 2 Hitachi 7K1000.B drives to it, & when i access the status page it says "Total Drive(s): 0"

    What should/can I do?

    OK...did you configure the drive first? Format it? How did you format it? Standard, linear striped or mirror RAID?

    how can i format them? its not recognizing them.

    on set up tab, click the RUN WIZARD....it actually should have started the first time you logged in.

    anyway, while i started this thread, i was also callin dlink support line, so i talked to this Indian dude, & it turns out i had to update the firmware cause the 1 i had does not support 1tb drives.

    Ahh, good to know that piece of information for the future. Dang, that is some serious storage space -- 2 tb!

    Man, I remember telling my wife when I bought my first 10 MEGABYTE harddrive I would never fill it up....lol

    do you know how/where can i format the drives? i ran the wizard, looked evrywhere & i cant find a way to do it. (guess ill call em again).

    edit:

    lmao, so i called them again, after 15mins, they told me i should return the unit because they couldn't find a way to format the drives (the formatting thingy was grayed out). i knew that they wore just probably readin instructions, so i tried a few stuff & turns out all i had to do is press the restart button on the configuration page & after it started up, it took me to the formatting page.

    now all i have to do is wait .. yay
