So far I'm looking at the Linksys WRT54GX and WRT54GX4 routers as well as the WAP54GX access point.

I like the idea of an AP since it is easier to add to a network. But can anyone give me any reason to take any one of these over the other? Also would someone care to clear up the security specs for me? It's been a while since I last caught up with wifi security and since then a few updates have been implemented.

BTW I checked the faq sticky and a few security keywords where not found.

uh, the WPA security is far better than the WEP by my understanding, so unless the first one has it, nix it. I went with a wireless router to add into my exiting wired network instead of an access point, because I can use it when I move out or whatever. Basically it gives you more flexibility.

^ that is the linksys-approved way to connect two routers together. basically you disable the internal DHCP server on the wireless router and hook the exisiting wired network into the LAN side of the new router.

Note sure. But if I run into anything while setting up my WRT54GX4 when I get it, I will be sure to let you know!
