    Hello everyone,

I've recently purchased an m11x laptop and wanted to assign it's mac code to the netgear dgn2000's access list. But entering the mac code it'll display a

"Invalid MAC address, please try again."

I've gone into cmd and used ipconfig /all and used the mac code from

"Wireless LAN adapter Wireless Network Connection"

So I'm pretty stumped, if it helps the mac code starts with F0:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx

    any help appreciated.

It could be the MS virtual Wi-Fi miniport.
First six characters of MAC address identify the maker of the board and are the same for all boards (in this case mobos) - type them here and see if you get an actual manufacturer or an error.

    Thanks for the tip.

After playing around with it for a while, I discovered that the error was coming from NETGEAR's side. The error was due to NETGEAR's ability to disregard any mac addresses which didn't start with 00:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx the method to fix this was to purposely change the first 2 digits to 00 save config open with notepad locate the mac address and change back to original mac address (in this instance was F0:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx) save, and restore onto the router. Doing this would allow you to then connect to the router.

LOL Such a mistake in firmware makes you wonder if they even test them.
I assume you have the current firmware- logs for the last firmware update show "Fixed various DHCP issues" and "Closed uPnP ports after uses" so I guess they don't mind making basic mistakes.
Hope it's the end of trouble for you as DSL modems in general are not supported by any 3rd party firmware.

Mostly the end of my troubles, I've always had an issue with regards to the PS3 unable to sign into PSN with the router, and it's always became confusing cause the net is still accessible using the PS3 people talked about port forwarding and such but the general buzz I got was that it was more of a DNS issue, just a pity I didn't research this before I purchased.
