I did a quick search and found nothing on this.

I'm currently going to be buying one in the next couple of hours. I'm looking at ( D-Link DNS-320, 2-Bay ShareCenter, as I like the 2-bay feature. Its going to be used primarily as a Picture backup system (my wife takes hundreds of pictures a day of your 7mnth daughter), and maybe to store my laptop backups.

I will be running it off a Linksys e4200. The nice thing about this NAS, is that it offers a Print Server. I currently use software (SX Virtual Link) to do this (USB printer plugged into router, this software finds the printer on the network and allows you to connect/disconnect from it).
I also like the fact that its 2-bay.

I'll write up a quick review after I get it running later on tonight. I'm just shocked no one on this forum (Networking/Wireless) has posted anything on NAS.

You didn't buy it, did you?
    If you didn't- please don't.

It uses 800MHz CPU, 128MB RAM and genuine crap D-Link software.
I considered it before I bought my new NAS, researched it and that's not a good NAS.

I bought two one-disk Zyxels NSA310 for $100 total. This deal is not available now but there's another good one.

    Amazon sells a two-disk Zyxel NSA320 for $89.

Compare it to DNS-320 and you'll end up with a bigger fan on Zyxel (it's quieter) three USB ports instead of one (D-Link has USB on the front only) and far better firmware on ZyXEL.

And that is before we start with hardware: D-Link uses 800MHz Marvell CPU and 128MB RAM, Zyxel uses 1200MHz CPU and 512MB RAM- that translates not only into faster transfers on a Zyxel but it also means you can use all features together. If you run a downloader (i.e. a torrent) and stream a video from a D-Link it will run out of RAM.

Also firmware on Zyxel is not only decent but it's being developed (see here for a translation from German on planned features in an incoming 4.60 firmware)

I had a DNS-321 for a little while. File transfer speeds were underwhelming, and I sometimes I would get lag when streaming a 1080p video to my laptop. There were some very interesting Linux-based tweaks and extra program you could run on it though that made it do more things than a NAS. Also, during the time that I was using the DNS-321 I was also using a DIR-655, which was... not a good router.

Ending up just using an old desktop and stuffing it with disks. The DNS-321 has been sitting on my desk gathering dust for a year.

I think I'm going to get they Zyxel NSA320 Just read a bunch of reviews and it seems like its worth the money.

I just have to see if newegg.ca has it for the same price or local vendor as I can't get amazon.com to ship to me.

1 question though does the NSA320 have a print server on it and will it work nicely with the Linksys E4200??

Yes to both questions- does have a print-server and will work with E4200.

So I am a little late on this report, but I have a stuffed a 4TB drive into my NSA310, and it's running Debian Wheezy off of a 16GB Patriot XT thumb drive. It's pretty fun, and will replace my ancient Linksys NSLU2 as soon as I'm done tweaking it. It even has fan control, which makes it run pretty quiet most of the time.

From time to time you can find the NSA310 $10 cheaper than I got it on ebay through both newegg and buy.com.

Debian HOWTO is here: General NAS-Central Forums • View topic - Debian Squeeze/Wheezy on NSA-310
