Hey all, I am wondering what transfer speeds I should receive on moving files? This owuld be copying a file from the wireless lapp to a wired desktop. I am new to networking and want to make sure I have this stuff configured properly. I usually connect at 130mbs and see approx 7 or 8 mbs according to windows when I drag and drop files over. What kind of real worls d/l speeds should I expect. I am on a 10/1 cable now..from what I understand there will be some speed degradation compared to the wired desktop. Any advise on settings?? I use the Linksys wrt300n and have the Intel factory installed in the Lappy. Thanks in advance for the replies. Cheers!

you will be limited if your running 100baseT ethernet as its 100mbit a second yet wireless N will effectively cope with 170+ mbps. If your running gibibit connection hard wired i would expect to see 40+ mebibits a second over the network hardware depending. What are you quoting with the 10/1 cable thing??? Not sure I understand that

this will not effect your LAN speed so that's negated.
