ok, so i reinstalled windows about 2 weeks ago, and im just now getting to testing my wired connection. well, it seems that i cant get any activity out of the ethernet port what so ever. at first i thought it might have just been the cable i was using (thru a router). so for testing purposes, i used the wire that connects to my router, so i would have a direct connection...and still nothing. i know it isnt that cable, becasue my desktop uses that cable and gets internet just find.

i went into my internet connection window, and it says that the ethernet is not sending or recieving any packets.
also, i know that it was prolly the reformat that did something, because i was able to use a wired connection before i reformatted.

Is this related to your other thread, where you told me the wired connection isn't working? If so, you should continue that thread instead of starting a new one.

Regardless... did you install the NIC drivers after you reformatted? Follow SouthernGirl's excellent reformat tutorial.

This my sound stupid. But your NIC card is enabled right? There are no 'x's over the icon down by the clock, or in device manager is there? It's not dissabled in Dell Quickset, right?
