    i have a sony vaio eseries laptop. Oflate ive observed that my friends's laptop detects my laptop in their list of wireless connections. y is this so? is this harmful?

    Disable ad-hoc wireless if you don't need to use it that way.

    Is it running XP? It's a known issue with the way that XP runs it's wireless. It automatically tried to set up an ad-hoc network of the same name as the last network it connected to if it can't connect to a network.

    It's a "feature"
