I can't figure out why but while I'm surfing, the connection freezes up all the time. It seems like streaming videos really mess it up. Shutting down the program and starting it again seems to fix this most of the time.

My internet also gets messed up if i'm downloading a torrent at the same time.

I didn't have these issues at all prior to formating and reinstalling vista.

Any help? Should I set up my TCP/IP settings to static? Btw, this is happening with my wireless.

installed the lan card drivers again.

check the signals are coming properly from the wireless router to the computer.

check the speed of the internet.

    go to command prompt.

run these commands to check the connectivity

    tracert

    ping ip address

    ip config

Is it possible you are hitting a rate limit or something from your ISP?

Have you changed any of your security settings, e.g., on your firewall, your anti-virus, or your anti-spyware? Even if you haven't, double-check that none of the settings have changed, particularly on the built-in Win firewall - from what I understand, it is possible for an update to reset the default settings on the built-in firewall.
