When I am online on any website. My computer clicks and I get Microsoft browser than opens with an advertisement maybe an ebay one while I am on ebay or university ads while I am on school website. It seems these browser dispaly themselves based on my internet habits. If i leave my laptop, I will come back to maybe 5-8 browsers some repeating or others similar to my past interest. Does anyone know how to diagnoss this problem? or tell me what is wrong when I go online wired or wireless? when i remove my internet card then i get no internet explorer browsers. I have to continually close the browsers out. Any help or advice would be appreciated. Thanks

    Run:

    AVG Anti-Virus (free)
    Spyware Terminator (free)

Download both for free and run them.

sounds like spyware. dont you have internet security suite?

i use zonealarm internet security suite.

    some free solution i use.

    spyware blaster (prevention)
spybot search and destroy (prevention + scan)
    lavasoft adaware (scan)

the lavasoft is very potent spyware scan. with all 4 i almost never get any spyware.

Adware and Spyware can be very hard to locate and remove. May want to look under msconfig and see what is being loaded, as well as the startup folder. Clear out (delete) all temp folders and cache files. If it not detected during a scan, they may be using a root kit. These can be almost impossiable to detect and clean out. If thats the case Backup your data, format your HD, then re-install the OS.

If you have the CD/DVD (or hidden partition) needed to reinstall the OS, it may/will be faster than cleaning. This really needs to be done every year anyway to cleanup for optimum performance.

Results, the Adware free scan found 1149 but in order to do the clean up job I had to register and that means $. I did Zonealarm and everytime the Multiple Explorer browser came they would ask me to allow or deny which is almost as bad as being bothered by the ads in browsers. Blue68f100 are you saying that what is happening with my laptop was purposely done to it? I got it second hand. Trojan is what pops up.

If you got it second hand it may have been already infected. I would wipe it clean and start over. It's a lot easier to keep them out than to clean up after there in. They scatter the installer all over your hd, and can be PITA to clean out. It would be a lot easier to format and reinstall the os. Start by using another pc if you have one and download all of the drivers needed for your NB, burn to CD.

The adware will remain hidden till they see the internet, so if you stay off line you can work on getting rid of them. If you miss 1 it will re populate the HD.

Wipe it clean you will thank yourself later and it will be quicker. If your have the hidden part to do the install do it, other wise use a OEM Version and use your key attached to the NB. If it had been reloaded before, it may require a call to MS, NO problem, just tell them you had to reload to a virus/adware. They will then instruct you on where to enter the special key. Do this after you have all of the chipset and drivers loaded.
