I'm thinking of making the jump to AC. One option that I'm considering is getting Motorola SBG6782 - which is a 1750 AC router + a DOCSIS 3.0 cable modem unit in one. It retails around $200 - or around the same price as a high end AC router. Does anyone have any experience with this unit?

It does look decent but I'm not a big fan of combo devices. You'd be better off buying a separate modem and router - that way you could still use a router if you chose to change an ISP and ended up with ADSL or VDSL or whatever but more importantly separate devices get firmware updates more often and if you purchased a decent router you'd have the ability to use a third party firmware to solve any problems that the manufacturer fails to solve.

Buying combo usually means you see one or maybe two updates and if there are any outstanding problems - tough luck - no more updates, no 3rd party firmware...
