I have DSL.Last 2 weeks I have been having problems with my modem dropping or getting knocked off line. Also,my connection has been irregular.Slow at times and great at times.I understand this will change with the amount of users on the internet.I called my ISP and they did the usual run down and checked the modem over the internet. They can't find anything wrong with the modem or the connection. My ISP has even sent a service tech to check my service and equipment.I have watched my modem while on line and off line.It randomly resets itself.I've spent more time trying to stay online than I have been online. As I typing this I have lost my connection twice.I have tried resetting my modem then restarting my wireless router, and finally starting my computer. My ISP is reluctant to replace the modem even tho I was forced to buy it from them. They wouldn't allow me internet accsess unless I bought there modem which has given me excellent service until now.I have had the modem right at 2 years. What could be other problems?I have no phones in my house except 2 cell phones. No other devices using a radio signal. Is there a way to detect stray radio signals that could be interfering with my equipments operation? Thanks for any help or guidance.

Hmm...if you explained the issue of the modem line dropping ever so often to ur ISP they should have at least replace the modem; even if they found nothing wrong w/ it at the time. S*** don't start happening until they leave...the lines in the wall might need to be replaced, but as an ISP they should have at least change the modem to rule that out as being the issue. Just my 2 cents...

It sounds like the signal has degraded. When you loose the DSL does the DSL led go RED. If so it's a line problem that your isp must correct. I have several clients that had this problem. The ISP had to crank-up the power on the dsl line for the problem to clear. Since then they have not had any more problems. My guess is that a tech was working on another line and disturbed yours. All it takes sometime is to wiggle a connection. And you also get corrosion over time.

The lines/wiring in my house is only a few years old.The ISP replaced some lines in my area after I completely lost my internet. That was 2 years ago after I had my service installed. When my modem drops out and resets, all the lights go out except the power light, then all the light's light up at the same time, and the tries to connect as normal.I am going to keep pressuring them to replace it.My ISP is cheap.

Make them send a service tech out to test the line. Then he can also confirm if the modem is the problem. It a common for corrosion to be introduced into the wiring. Happens when it rains or someone left a cover off.
