Check out this list of modems, if you haven't already.

    DOCSIS Devices

What kind of service (data rate) plan do you have? If you have a fairly high plan, you should get a DOCSIS 3.0 modem to get the most performance. You can get them for just under $100 on ebay, but they are top of the line so don'e expect to pay that much for lesser models.

I recommend the Motorola Surfboards, they are known to be reliable and fast.

As above, i recommend a DOCSIS 3.0 compatible modem for future proofing (even if your network only suports 2.0)

Not on Comcast's network. Lots of reported issues with the current-generation of Surfboards on that network.

Here's what I would recommend to the OP.

Go here and purchase this coupon for use at Staples. The site is legit, I've used it several times in the past. Note that the coupon code is only valid for online and phone purchases, it cannot be used in-store.

Use the coupon code they give you to order this modem. If you have a Staples store near you, you can have it shipped there for free and pick it up, rather than incur a shipping charge to have it sent to your house. Even if you did have to pay a shipping charge, the total cost after the coupon and sales tax would be about $65-70, which is a great price.
