So I don't know where to start. My mother is looking for a wireless option for her weekend road warrior ways, but wants to know real world pricing, not the "X amount a month plus X X X X fees".

She's looking at clearwire, sprint and verizon in particular.

This said, I've tried my googlefu to no avail, and as its never even occurred to me to research this particular topic, I find myself in over my head. Anyone know any good resources for finding information, pricing, real world estimates, and similar?

I'm really out of my depth here. :(

verizion is ~$80/month + the card you have to buy. At least it was when I had it. Worked great but I'd look at going with a 3G provider now.

Call the providers, ask them what they can offer you. Tell them you're looking at the other networks, and you want to know what kind of deals they can work for you. You won't find the best deal online ;)
