Hi, I am moving to Australia next week, for a year. I am bringing my laptop since i will be using it work work. I am in design so I will be uploading larger files. I am looking at mobile broadband for the freedom, but I am totally new to this. I am thinking of going with Virgin so I can bring my iphone and use a phone and MB through them. Any suggestions when it comes to this stuff? Thanks

Can you give us more details on where you're likely to be in Australia? The main providers are:

    Telstra
    Optus
    Vodafone
    3

Virgin piggy-back off one of these main networks, Optus, I think, but not too sure.

Given Australia's geographical and population spread, roaming costs can be huge.

You can try this to have a further look:

I personally use 3, and they've a good deal running at the moment. However, a lot of people don't like it, particularly due to its very high roaming charge. If you don't use 3 outside the metro/urban areas, you should be fine.
