After installing Win7 pro using Lenovo Recovery disks The only adapter that is visible in Device Manager is
Intel (R) 82579LM Gigabit Network Connection. Previously on Win 8.1 on another hard drive I had both this one and Advanced 6205. I cannot use wireless at all. The wireless tab on the T420 shows GREEN and the Wireless Radio is on. any help will be appreciated.

Are there any yellow exclamation marks in device manager indicating that some devices are not installed properly?

    Bluetooth and/or WWAN, maybe.

What does pressing Fn+F5 bring on the screen?

That has to be it. Download drivers for Intel 6205 from Intel website and see if it works.
