Recently after reading about the problems for Dell1390 card and the praises abouth the Gigabytecaerd, i follow the advise of Wacky T I went ahead and purchased the GIGABYTE WI-01GT basada en en Atheros AR5005GS

This card will be installed in a Dell9400/E1705.

Now , i need advise in the best router to match the super Gof this card.
The network will be in a small house ,wired to an XPS desktop and wireless to laptop, distances will be around 100 feet at the most, no solid walls. This is for starters.
The Internet conection is cable from aMotorola surfboard 4100 Modem

The drop in price of the D-link 4300 is tempting , but i have no use since i am not into gaming o.
Need something very solid in performance , because i will be traveling overseas next month and i plan to take thes with me

    Thanks...

Glad to hear you went with the Atheros card. Mine's worked great in my E1705. For this question, I'd recommend a Linksys WRT54GL with 7 dBi antennas.

Wacky; thanks or the advise but i went to the Linksys site to learn more about the WRT54GL amd I did not find anything related to Super-G capabilities.
NickS mention in his guide that the WRT54GS with Speedbooster but(Note: This can only be shown if you have a Linksys Wireless Card too).

What about other brand ie: D-link or Buffalo
    What about their models ?

OK. You want Super G. Then you're gonna have to go with Netgear or maybe a DLink, I think the DI-624, router. I like to stick with standards, that's why I recommended the WRT54GL, which is a really good standards based 802.11g router.

Wacky, i think i started backwards, with the card and then the router. the reason of this is starting with the least expensive component and leave the most expensive to last.
i understand that the WRT54GL won't take advantage of the card super-G capabilities.
netgear also requires "matching " componentes in order to work without a glitch....
what is your take on the D link DI-634M with MIMO technology...Would i have to have a Card that supports that technology...

Sorry for all these questions, unfortunelly once i am overseas i would'nt be able to solve any problems , so the network have to be solid from here ...

Again thanks a lot for your advise

Zulu1957, looks like the DI-634M uses an Atheros chipset that'll probably work fine with the Gigabyte card.

    The NEWS The NEWS!!!

Motivated by the news from WackyT , I checked the Netgear but somehow mixed rewies make me go back to Compupay site and check specs on DI-634M.
I found that the this router and the Di-624 now have a rebate of $40.00 each.
So I went to CompUSA , unable to find one on the shelves, i asked and I was told "there are 2 "somewhere " in the store. So Finally i found them, at the register , they provide me with 2 Rebates one to do online for $20.00 from COMPUSA and another for $20.00 to mail from Manufacturer.
Rebate from CompUSA start Date 05/06/07, finish date 05/12/06, postmark 06/02/06.
This Offer is valid for items :

317757 (DWLG650M)Super G with MIMO Wireless Network Adapter

    317758 (DI-624M) D-Link Super G with MIMO Wireless Router

    329152 ( DWL-G520M) Wireless 108G MIMO Desktop Adapter

    335039(DI-634M)Wireless 108G MIMO Router

The manufacturers rebate start Date 05/06/07, finish date 05/12/06, postmark 06/02/06
    SAME iTEMS...

NOW, WHEN I WENT TO PAY, THE REGISTER TOOK $20.00 OF MY BILL I ALSO PURCHASED AN MS WIRED MOUSE 3000 FOR $ 29.99.
SO IN MY RECEIPT THE ROUTER APPEARS FOR $ 59.99. SO TOTAL OTD $ 95.38 w/taxes.
    VERY YMMV. BUT WORTH TRYING.
If both rebates came Router will be for $19.99.

By the way the router was up and running in minutes ,following the steps from CD.

The only problem i was unable to set up security WPA in any of the 2 flavors , I called tech Support and can only provide me with WEP help. I Have to call tomorrow and talk with a Tech Level 3 ????

Perhaps some body can help me here.....
