Hi all, hoping you could help me out once again!

For the past year or so I've been experiencing massive ping spikes during any and all online gaming. These spikes do not seem to occur during browsing or downloading. It's been so bad and I've made so little progress in solving the matter that I've been avoiding playing completely, but now I'm pretty sure that the problem stems from an incompatibility between my router and PC.

I'm running an FX-p7805u with the original wireless card through a Belkin N300 wireless N Router, model: F9K1002v1. This problem only occurs when using the wireless network. I've run my PC at the local college campus with no lag spikes, and I've run a different pc at home with no problems either. Any and all suggestions to solve this problem once and for all would be greatly appreciated!

To me it seems like your router and wireless adapter aren't liking each other. Make sure that your drivers are up to date and also check for difference in security software between the computers you tried at home.

It won't hurt to connect the computer via ethernet and test either, if it's fa firewall setting that's causing the problem, you'll likely run into it with ethernet too.

I'm using AVG Anti-Virus Free edition 2011 on the FX laptop, and the other is using a charter security suite. I'll be switching the FX to that software shortly.

As for my drivers, they are up to date. And there is no drop in signal when using ethernet. If I had the option, I'd have my PC jacked in constantly, but alas.
