Ok I tried the search function and it came back with 10 pages of information for me to go through, honestly I dont have the time to go through all of them since im in the middle of the desert.

Heres the deal, I gave my fiance my spare laptop to use while im over here, before that a friend of mine did a clean instal of XP home and reloaded the drivers for me. There is a US Robotics wireless card plugged into the PCMCIA slot and she cannot download the software for it (long story), everytime she trys to access the internet wirelessly she cannot get a connection. She trys diagnosing the problem but the pop-up says windows isnt the primary control for Wi-fi. Or something like that. What I need to know is how to make XP the default again. I should be able to walk her through any problems from there. I hope.

Thanks for any reply's in advance

try uninstalling the us robotics application and XP's default wireless application should take over. I believe thats what I did for my cousins Asus laptop when an Asus program would control the wireless connection. If that doesn't work, just go back to the Windows wireless application, and there should be a link to click on how to make XP the default wireless application when you try to refresh and look for wireless connections.

open network connections by double clicking the computer icon in the taskbar(bottom right of screen). Right click the wireless connection that has US Robotics in grey underneath>Properties>Wireless Networking Tab> then there is a tick box asking if you wish for Windows Wireless Configuration(APIPA) to Handle the connection. Check that box then uninstall the USRobotics wireless utility.

You can not use a USR modem and use wireless for your connection at the same time. The modem is not needed unless you only have dial-up, then disable the wireless.
