It's like I just got a new internet service or something, websites now load like instantly with 0 lag

All I did was I used the StevenBlack Hosts file

Basically he uses multiple hosts file entries from many popular hosts files then removes the duplicates. Result= Super snappy internet

Simply download the ZIP file of that folder then extract it and copy/paste the hosts file in this folder:

    C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\

Or you can just right click on updateHostsWindows.bat and run it as Admin

Don't forget, before you extract the ZIP file contents to unblock the file. See: "Are you sure you want to run this file?" [Yes or No]

Ive heard if one uses uBlockO or uMatrix filter lists and rules, gorhill recommends no dublicate hosts lists. Would a machine's hosts file qualify? For eg, I check all uMatrix hosts and filter lists, uncheck the same ones on uBO, and check the extended uBO hosts/filters. Steve Blacks list is on there. Not sure if you use uBO or uMatrix, but if so, would this cause a glitch and unnecessary redundancy? Just curious. Thanks!

I use AdBlock Plus it has been improved lately to speed up the browsing experience significantly and along with this hosts file, my internet has never been snappier.

Here are my Adblock Plus filters:

Could not get the .bat to execute. Says something about python when I run it from within CMD in admin mode.

It wasn't an issue with blocked due to extension.

I ended up copy and pasting the content of the host file into my host file that contained the info to bypass Adobe Genuine software check.

There are several lists on there with text similar to this:

    # with a dash of crowd sourcing via Github
    #

Did you guys just copy and paste all that too?

I grabbed all of it. Did not want to be bothered to filter all of that stuff out.

You should be fine, the hashes tell it to ignore all that.

In order let updateHostsWindows.bat file to work.. you just need to go to your host file that is found on C:\Windows\system32\driver\etc... and go to the file properties and uncheck read only box :) it will then work ;)

I always use StevenBlack host files across multiple platform Android (On my Note 9) , Linux destros, and of course in Windows :D
