Hi guys... I found this a few months ago and just looked at the site again. Its very simple plans to make a 15-18dbi antennae for like under $30. The site has great pictures and instructions and results from several tests. This looks very cool... and I'm tempted to try it out!

Has anyone attempted this project or somthing simmilar to this? If you live in a city this would be a great way to take atvantage of some of those "Unsecured" wirless connections. And get free internet! :)

dunno too much bvut waht i have heard is the a company (intel or microsoft) is getting big businesses to use Max-fi (MaxWIFI).

This has 30 Miles of Wireless Internet Radius, BUT only striaght and viewable distance.

In reality after all buildings and all other obstructions, MaxFi only get 1 Mile in Radius of Wireless internet which is pretty impressive, but as we know technology is getting better, soon the whole world would have have acess to the internet evrywhere and high speed too :D.

    Thanks,

Yea... 30 miles is quite far... also is very expensive.... thousands of $$$. However 2-3 miles off a simple USB Wi-Fi card is pritty impressive. And it only costs $30!

Hey just buy a cheap one off ebay. Will prob. cost you $10-30. Take atvantage of free Wi-Fi! And remember the bigger the better!

    ------

Also if people don't have that wierd chinese "cookware" you could probabally use just a strainer, or the casing of an old fan, or anything else you can think of.

    ------

I took my cell phone and looked at it. 3 out of 5 bars. I went to the kitchen and pulled out a pan, and brought it back and faced the same direction i was when I first tried it... 4/5. Not bad.
