Say if i get a macbook and use it in the house with the same network router as my PC laptop. If I set it up so that they can share, will they see each other's documents and files? If I have a movie on PC, and I go to my macbook, can I watch it?

You probably wouldn't want to stream video over the network, though I guess you could. Instead, it would probably be easiest to simply transfer the file to the computer you want to watch it on... which shouldn't be much of an issue when going between Mac --> PC or visa versa.

I have a similar setup at home and they both can share files. It would be helpful if you give each machine a dedicated IP and you really should password protect the shares just in case. The video streaming could work if you are using iTunes videos but sharing a DVD will probably be slow.
