I just got my M14x this week and cannot get it to connect to my router.

The first part of the issue is that I live in Germany (I'm American) so I picked up a German M14x. I know enough German to get around it ok, but I don't know the menus exactly in Win 7, so I may be missing something. I will be upgrading to Win 7 Ultimate to change the language soon.

My laptop shows my router and asks for the pass code, but when I type it in, it won't connect. The M14x is a 2.0 i7 core / 8 gig RAM / GT555m, the router is a D-Link Wireless N 300 Router (DIR-615).

Any help would be greatly appriciated.

Check if MAC filtering is disabled on the router.

Also there are some characters that cause issues when dealing with German networking hardware including @ and "- you shouldn't use those in your wireless password.

There are some more that I don't remember so if you can- change wireless password to something like 12345 just for testing. If it does connect that means you're using some troublesome characters and it's the password that is the problem. If it still refuses to connect it's something entirely different.

Thanx, I will check the MAC filter, but the password doesn't use any special characters. I have never had an issue connecting with any other laptop (I have 3 others at home). It works fine wired, but I need wireless for our house, the computers are too spread out. I did see a couple posts on other sites about the M14 having trouble with N routers, do you or anyone else know of this?

What's the Wi-Fi card in it?

I believe it has the Intel 6205 Wifi card. But, I will have to check when I get home (it's 3pm here, so I'm at work). My wife ordered it for me as a surprize so I didn't choose the parts. But based on what she got in it, I doubt it is the 1000.
