Heres the deal......... I just got a Gateway M-1617 lap top. Im trying to get the wireless internet working but have had little luck. Every once in a while it will connect to my router. But when I shut the lap top down, there will be no connection available. Ive done lots of research and have tried numerous things with no luck. This is probally due to my lack of knowledge in the computer area. Please help me out, its been two days of non stop googleing with little luck. Remember im not smart in this area, so speak in simple terms, thanks.

I installed the marvell network adapter but it still isnt working.

First, what operating system do you have, and exactly what wireless card do you have in your laptop? Second, what router do you have? Third, what have you read and what have you tried?

If you visit the Gateway support website (just google for "Gateway M-1617"), and you know the part number of your laptop, you should be able to figure out what card you have.

Have you tried connecting to other networks?

Instead of trying the latest Marvell driver, try using an older version. Also, you can also try getting the latest drivers from the Marvell website, instead of from the Gateway site.

What does that exactly mean, that when u shut down ur system, the router stops connecting to other machines or after a system restart of ur laptop, the wireless card does not connect to the router..??
