I recently inherited an old IBM ThinkPad 390. It works quite well after upgrading the memory to max and buying a new battery.

When I subscribed to my ISP's DSL service, they furnished me with a wireless router (this is for my desktop machine). After I got the laptop, I installed a fresh version of Win98SE (About the most up-to-date version of windows that was compatible with the older machine. I also purchased a PCMCIA wireless card and found that the machine works well throughout my house in the wireless mode.

Here is my problem. Everytime I turn on the laptop, I have to enter winipcfg in the run box, run it and just tell it to renew connections. This happens rapidly and everything works well until I turn the laptop off. The next time I start up I have to go through the "renew" process again. I am sure there must be some way to avoid having to do that at each start up but I have not been able to figure it out yet.

I would appreciate any help anyone can give me on this issue.
