I have 2 laptops on the way and now I am looking to purchase a Wireless modem and router. Do you guys have any suggestions? I live in a apt but moving into a house in a year or so. Do certain certain routers and modem work better together ? Should I stick with the Same brand when purchasing the modem/router?

Your ISP will almost certainly be providing you with a modem, so your main choice will be your router. Generally speaking, equipment from the same manufacturer will generally work optimally together; however, most equipment from the major manufacturers will generally interoperate just fine together.
