Hello! I've been trying to make a 3Com 3CN3AC1556 mini PCI LAN/modem combo card work in my Panasonic Toughbook 28. The connectors on the toughbook mate up with the card just fine. After installing it, WinXP happily detects it and adds it to device manager with no conflicts. BUT.. I haven't been able to get it to connect to a network. It always says "a network cable is unplugged", and I have no reason to doubt its claim. I've tried several identical 3Com cards, so I'm sure it isn't just a bad card.

My assumption at this point is that, since there's only four of the 14 pins populated on my notebook's connector, I must not be connecting to the correct four pins.

I know this is a long-shot, but would anyone with a working 3CN3AC1556 happen to have a picture of the cable where it plugs into the card? Or, if it exists, a document explaining the pinout of the socket would work great too.

    Thanks!

Followup: The card seems to be functional! I think the problem was my shoddy cat5 cabling. I tried it on one I crimped myself, that I've had to force 10BT signalling on with other cards to get it to work. For some reason this 3com card won't play, even when trying this "trick". However, using a store-bought cable running right into my router, it works like a champ!
