I went to change the admin PW in the administration control panel, I accessed it normally via 192.168.1.1
all I did was append "111" to the end of the existing 10 character strong password
After saving the changes it prompted me to log in again, but it's not accepting the new password or the old password. Any idea what could've went wrong?
I've never had any problem with the router before, it's running the latest firmware.
EDIT: The router is still working fine and both the 2.4ghz and 5.8ghz networks are up and running normally, with the same security key. I didn't try to change that, just the admin password (which was the same).

* Verified CAPS LOCK is not on?
* A sticky Key on the Keyboard? Perhaps the shift key? Press your hand against all the keys.....
* If all else fails, resetting the Router to factory defaults might be the only other option. -
The best advice that I can give is to perform a hard reset and re-configure the device.
Don't know what went wrong, but if you can repeat the test by appending 111 to the PW after you do a hard-reset, you might want to report this potential bug to Linksys.
I'm reopening this thread as per OP request, but if anyone starts talking about hacking methods or anything like that it will be closed. -
Did you type out the whole password before adding 111 when you entered it into the dialog box, or did you just add the three digits onto the bulleted out password?
The bulleted info might have been a hash, or even just bullets.
I would probably trash the stock firmware, and throw DD-WRT on it. -

If you don't have access your only bet is to do a hard reset back to factory. Then change the pw again and see if it takes. If not you found a bug and needs to be reported. Years ago I ran into one router that only accepted a 10 chr max. You could enter 12 but it only saved 10 and reported a bad pw was entered if you enter the pw >10 chrs. I dought that there is a max PW length < 24chrs.
