A friend of mine, we both play an online MMORPG, and about a week ago, someone hacked his account.

We have been through customer support, etc etc.

Without going into to much detail, we have the hackers IP address, and was wondering if there is a program that we can enter the IP, and find where exactly they live.

I did a few of the online one's on my computer, but it said I lived in a city thats miles away.

I have attached the picture of his IP.

Chances are the IP will just lead to a farm of servers, and not his exact location.

You can always try and email the ISP for information on the person, but chances are won't be able to obtain that information easily.

No. Only the ISP in question knows, and they won't tell you (or anyone else, unless they're approached by the police or subpoenaed).

Even if you had that information, you don't know if it's really your "hacker" or someone clueless with a compromised system acting as a proxy.

Talk to customer support to get the account back, teach your friend how to choose proper passwords (and/or keep his computer safe in general).

If the MMO you are playing is World of Warcraft (The only one I play and know about) you can call customer support and tell them your secret phrase and they will be able to reset ALL of your account info to what you give them over the phone. I had a friend go through this recently. Best advise is to run anti virus to get rid of key loggers.

To your main question : The answer is above in the other posts.

Sorry for the hassle that really sucks.

    Best of luck.

As of right now, that hostname resolves to this IP: 69.123.57.220. I doubt if that is going to lead you to the person question, though, because the hostname suggests that this is a dynamic IP, and it is quite likely that it's been reallocated to someone else by now.

However, I would guess that neither the hostname nor that IP address is likely to give you much help in actually locating the user in question without contacting Optimum Online directly to see if the fact that that particular IP was used to hack into your account would be sufficient for them to either ban that user (although they may not tell you who it was or whether they did anything to him/her) or to actually disclose the account's contact details to you (although you might not be able to get that unless you're planning on filing a lawsuit against this person and need the info in order to properly serve process).
