The biggest question is what do you need the router to do? If you're just looking to share a cable or DSL connection, the plain old WRT54G will suit you just fine, just make sure you use least WPA encryption, if not WPA2 (requires XP SP2 and a hotfix from MS to use with Windoze)

My cousin has a Linksys WRT54G and it's alright. Just make sure you change the router's default password, disable SSID broadcast, and setup a secure connection. Then you will be set.

Just don't get the new V5 WRT54G, it's crap. Linksys moved form linux firmware and cut the the ram in 1/2. Get the GL model if by linksys.

I also recommend the WRT54GL. I currently use it at home and so far no problems. The only problem for me was installing a router to another router, but that a consumer-end problem.

I use a Linksys WRK54G. I have been using it for about 2 years now, and absolutly no problem. My Vaio downstairs has a Linksys Wireless PCI Card in it, and my notebook has a D-Link RangeBoost PCMIA card, and it all runs great with my T1.

I have the WRT54G V5 and yes I'm experiencing some problems with it. I can't access the set up page of the router even after the firmware upgrade. Called linksys support several times and finally (after the 6th time) they told me they'll just replace it. I can still connect wirelessly but somehow I can't change any of the default settings... bummer.

I admit that the Linksys WRT54G was a bit tricky to manage and I had a hell of a time upgrading the firmware. To complicate matters even more, their website for downloading the latest firmware is incredibly ambiguous and I ended up dowloading the wrong one. However, once I upgraded to the latest and correct firmware, it has worked superbly.
