    Hi All,

    Here is my issue...

I have comcast Internet connection at Home and a Linksys WRT54G router. Three devices access internet through this setup:

A Dell Laptop, a HP Laptop and my iPhone.

Everything was hunky dory till I decided to stop boradcasting SSID. I went into the router through 192.168.1.1 and disabled SSID broadcast. After that, neither could my computers connect to the internet nor could I launch the setup page by 192.168.1.1 from either hosts [Page not found]. I did a hard reset on the router and then started my woes.

Now, my Dell connects to the internet and HP and iPhone don't. Both Dell and HP laptops have been set to DHCP and to obtain IP/DNS automatically.

Dell - The settings are as below. What is strange is that, though I can access internet through wirelss on this host, I cannot access the router through 192.168.1.1 [because of the gateway?]

On HP laptop, I can open 192.168.1.1 successfully, but there is no internet connection.

    Connection Specific DNX suffix:

    IPv4 address: 192.168.1.100

    Subnet Mast: 255.255.255.0

    Default Gateway: 192.168.1.1

The laptop connects successfully to the wireless network but the connection is limited and I can't get to internet on this computer. Same case with iPhone as well. Would appreciate any help immensely..

It sounds like the Router is in Bridge Mode or something...log into the Router by directly connecting an ethernet cable between computer and Router, (you can use the HP notebook and enable the LAN Adapter) and check its configuration. The Wireless Mode should be set to "Access Point" (AP) Mode. And the Operating Mode should be set to "Gateway".

Turn back on the SSID. It's required for WPA devices to work properly.

Seems like a simple fix, re-enable SSID broadcast.

Turning back on SSID would seem like the obvious, this is why I didn't even mention this; the OP i'm sure is smart enough to know that this is when things went bonkers and re-enable SSID Broadcasting.

And besides he said he did a hard reset...that most likely would have set the SSID Broadcast back to enabled by default.

If you look at the IP Address his WLAN Adapter is getting from the ipconfig /all command results, you'll notice that it is a public IP Address...one that you'll most likely get from an ISP. Which means most likely he's being assigned an IP Address from the ISPs modem. This is why I believe the Router needs to be checked to make sure it's in the proper config.

Hence my post; It sounds like the Router is in Bridge Mode or something...log into the Router by directly connecting an ethernet cable between computer and Router, (you can use the HP notebook and enable the LAN Adapter) and check its configuration. The Wireless Mode should be set to "Access Point" (AP) Mode. And the Operating Mode should be set to "Gateway"
