I haven't used my WRT54G in a year because I didn't need wifi at home but now with my new iphone i set it back up. I hooked up all the correct cat5 so my desktop is wired through the router and powered everything on. I am running the router on DD WRT which I remember gave me much better performance then the stock firmware.

I still had MAC address protection so I logged into the router to add my iphone. After this I found that i could not get the internet on a browser on either my iphone or my desktop. BUT SKYPE WAS LOGGED ON AND I COULD CALL OUT SUCCESSFULLY.

I even reset my entire router to default settings and still the same.

How could skype work but nothing else. I thought it could be an issue with ports but those would have all be reset to default as well. I'm stumped. :(

You did a hard reset (power button for 30 seconds, etc), and you still can't log into the browser when connected via ethernet cable?

Yes, hard reset and even a reset to factory settings.

So, you can log into the router, but you can't access the internet? Can you open up a cmd window and ping a website?

ok so sometimes i could ping to an ip but not to a website, so i'm assuming its a DNS issue but the last attempt didn't go through and even skype wouldn't login. I can still easily access 192.168.1.1 from wired pc and wifi iphone... i don't know what is wrong with this router!
