I have a Linksys WRT54G wireless router. I've had to run the netset utility recommended to my by the linksys tech support guy almost every time I boot up my computer in order to access the internet. The utility keeps saying that my router can't be found and that I need to check my wiring set up even though it's wired correctly. All I have to do is click through the utility and then everything works fine. Any ideas as to what may be happening? I'm completely clueless.

    Hi,

I am new to this forums. Hope the below steps help you fix this problem.

    1) If computer is running windows XP, try using WZC instead of the utility.
    2) What wireless card do you have on this computer?

    1) what is WZC? (geez that makes me feel dumb)
    2) The desktop is directly wired into the router and my laptop has an intel 2200. Neither one will work until I run the utility.

    Thanks for the quick reply.

not sure but i have a similar issue where periodically mine just wont respond. no email, internet or home network. usually works on startup though. if i unplug the cat 5 from the router and wire direct to the cable modem all works fine. generally if i leave it that way it will fix itself after an hour or two. this to say the least is unacceptable. i certainly think it also isnt fair to have to run a utility each time i boot up or have a router freeze. i have the newest firmware and posted this problem here:
