My linksys router has been throwing some strange connection errors. I have listed several methods of connecting the modem, router, and desktop and their corresponding results. Please help me figure out what is wrong.
    1. connect modem to "internet" jack on router, and then connect "ethernet 1" to desktop: no connection for both ethernet and wireless
    2. only connect the modem to "ethernet 1" jack on the router: wireless available
    3. connect the modem to "ethernet 1" jack on the router, and connect desktop ethernet to "ethernet 2" jack on the router: wireless available, desktop says "local and internet access", but no connection.
I need both wireless and ethernet running so both the desktop and laptop can go online the same time. Please help.

First, download the manual for the router and follow the instructions on how to connect the modem and the computers. Next, do a hard reset of the router. If the router still has issues after verifying the connections and doing the hard reset, your router is probably toast and you'll have to buy a new one.
