    Linksys Wireless Gateway with firewall

    Hi

    I got linksys wireless gateway with built in firewall and I was wondering whether I should just have the hardware firewall enabled or should I also install mcafee personl firewall plus?

    Will the linksys firewall be enough on its own?

    The hardware firewall will prevent any access to your network from coming in over the internet connection, and the software firewall on the PC will prevent access when your laptop is connected to public access points, as well as any ad-hoc wireless connections to your laptop. If you never connect to the internet via a public access network, and aren't too concerned about local snoops (ie - you live on a farm, or on top of a remote mountain), then you probably don't need the software firewall. Otherwise, it's a good idea to have both.

    Windows XP has a basic, built-in Firewall. Look here for more info.
