I have a Linksys WRT54GL with the latest firmware (4.30.12 build 3) and every few weeks or so, my connection would just drop. I would have my laptop on for days on end and sometimes when I would come back to it, my internet connection would be gone and it can't automatically reconnect. The only remedy is to pull the power plug out, wait a few seconds, plug it back in and the wireless would work again. What gives? It's not a huge problem but I find it a hassle to have to do this every time. I just want my wireless to work all the time, like it did with my old D-Link wireless router. The house phone is 5.8ghz so radio interference is minimal.

I've tried the DD-WRT firmware hack a while back, but im pretty sure that didn't work. If its guaranteed to help though, I guess i'll install it again.

Without more detail, it's almost impossible to say what's going on. Try checking in the event logs of your system to see if anything got logged that might be relevant (such as, e.g., items indicating that the computer lost its IP address and couldn't contact the network to renew that data).

Try Tomato(since you have tried DD-WRT) and see if things are any better. My router is working great with it, but I think it voids the warranty(which you might have already done by putting DD-WRT on there in the past)

The Linksys firmware isn't that great and it does need rebooted more often than DD-WRT or Tomato.
