I have a desktop PC that I currently use through a Linksys cable modem to access the internet.

I have just purchased a Linksys WRT150N to set up a wireless network to be able to use my new HP dv9000T laptop in the house. The laptop is equiped with a wireless card.

I have followed the install instruction from Linksys, both with and without the firmware CD. I can't for the life of me get the wireless network to work properly. When everything is hooked up per the instructions, my regular wired PC can't access the internet. My laptop finds the wireless network, but when I connect, the computer still doesn't seem to access the internet. If I power down, disconnect the wireless router and reconnect the modem to the desktop I can access the internet.

I am getting really frustrated, and help and advice would really be great!

    Thanks,

    Bill

I had a somewhat similar problem setting up my linksys WRT45G router
(linksys has a "wizard" that automatically sets up your ip but I can't find it, here's the manual way to do it)

first connect your desktop directly to the cable internet, open up command promp type "ipconfig" and just keep note of ur ip
then connect your linksys to your desktop, go into the router config screen, the ip for it should be 192.168.1.1, If it is you will get a pop-up asking you for your password to access "Linksys WRT150N" the password by default is admin I believe, no username
Once you're at the Setup screen, one of them should have Local IP address with 4 boxes. in those boxes you have to fill out what your ip is up to the last 2 boxes, the 3rd box you type what your ip w/o router is +1, and leave the 4th box as 1
ex. my ip w/o router is 192.168.1.x, w/router its 192.168.2.x
my router is 192.168.2.1, and then you will have a box where the starting ip address is, that number is up to you to select, just don't put 1 in there since 1 will be your router

I hope this is somewhat helpful, I dont have experience with the WRT150N router but I believe that most of the router setup menu's are alike :s
