So I bought the Linksys 610 router because it is suposed to be top of the line. Everything worked fine for about a week, but now it keeps going in and out. when it is on (like half the time) it is running at 1mbps when my laptop is like 2 feet from the router. I have tried everything and it wont work. Very frusterating when you pay $150 for a nice router, and the thing doesn't work better than the 3 year old $30 router I used to have. Any advise?

I hit the reset button on the router and my laptop connects at 56mbps, but within 1 minute it is down to 1mbps. My laptop is a new HP dv7t with wireless N card, so I dont know what is going on

Is another laptop able to connect to it fine? Does your laptop connect to other wireless networks fine?
You can try changing the broadcast channel to something else to see if that helps any. Maybe you are getting some kind of interference on the channel you are on.

Two laptops and my ipod touch (with wifi) had been able to connect to it fine for over a week, now they all go out at the same time. When it is connected it is at 1mbps. I have a high speed internet connection, good router, and good wireless cards.

At the moment the only thing I could suggest is to try changing the channel up and down to see if one will work for you.

I don't know how much the firmware has changed from mine to yours (I have the WRT54G) but under wireless tab in the basic wireless settings section there is a wireless channel mode with the different channel numbers with the corresponding GHz. The only thing is if you are hitting the reset button it's going to default back to factory settings if you hit it again. You know how to log into the router to change the settings?

I figured out I was only having this problem when my laptop was unpluged. When unplugged my laptop went to a lower performance, lower battery consumption mode. I changed the settings so this didnt effect the wireless and it has been working since.

I have been running at 135mbps with my new laptop, my sister in law was over with her laptop and she was running at 200+mbps. Is there a setting that I have to change to go faster?

I cant get mine to go above 135, and I imagine it should because it is $2k laptop with new wireless card. How do I make the connection faster?

    Thanks

Does anyone know if Linksys is planning on releasing a firmware update for this router soon? I want to get it after I receive my dv7t but I've been hearing such mixed reviews regarding it.

On 1 hand some people love it. On the other hand some people are claiming its horrible.

I just want to know the truth so I won't waste my money on it.

I'm almost tempted to just wait and see what the next line of Wireless N routers will look like and how they perform. Anyone have information regarding that?
