    As the title states I have limited or no connectivity.

    Yesterday I installed a new hard drive into my LENOVO 3000 N100 notebook, I updated with windows xp service pack 3 (I run XP after all) and various other updates off the Microsoft website. I also installed CCleaner, Comodo Firewall and Avira Anti-Virus.

    I have been all over several forums trying to iron this out before I go back to college. I have tried

    At this moment in time I am uninstalling/reinstalling service pack 3 (in case) (Control Panel>Network Connections> Right Click Local Area Connection>Disable low/no connectivity) and several other things I came across, to no avail.

    I'm running on an Ethernet Netgear cable router, the computer I'm typing on is connected to that same router, and the net works, but not on my laptop..

    Hope I had enough Info...Any help/suggestions?

    While reinstalling service pack three my connectivity re-established itself...lets see how long it lasts this time....Keeping forum open, incase, or for troubleshooting why it would do this (mainly because I couldn't find any SP3 patches on the Microsoft site)

    Now after restarting the laptop, as per instructions requested by service pack three I am back to limited/no connectivity. I disabled my WLAN connection too, just to see if that was getting in the way, apparently not.

    Things to try;

    * Check that the cable connection is properly secured between the Laptop and Router.

    * Bad Ethernet Cable? (Try swapping the ethernet cable that the computer that works fine uses; or if that is wireless find another ethernet cable to test)

    * Can you try the Wireless Card for a connection instead of ethernet?

    * Uninstall the LAN device for the ethernet card via Device Manager and restart the computer. Download the latest drivers for the Network Interface Card from Lenovo's website and re-install those drivers.

    * Are the IP Address settings on the Laptop correct to match the settings of the Router. (Whether Static/DHCP IP setting)

    * Reboot Router by disconnecting all cables including power cable and re-connect them.

    * Probably the ethernet card is malfunctioning and might need to be replaced?

    * SP3 might be interfering somehow. How about reverting to SP2?

    PS: Furthermore try going to Start --> Run and type cmd and hit enter. Then type ipconfig /release and hit enter. Type ipconfig /flushdns and hit enter. Type ipconfig /renew and hit enter. Finally ipconfig /registerdns and hit enter.

    This is normally something to do with your ISP. This happened many times for me. When i rang up for some reason they stopped my Direct Debit and i was cut off. I suppose there might be something wrong with the Router's settings as you said you installed Windows XP on a new Hardrive. You could google your Router Brand and Model and see what the setting should look like. If this does not help then you should ring up your ISP they should be able to do it from there.
