    Limited no no connection

    I tried to connect my laptop(using RJ 45) to LAN in My school but Error msg is displayed saying "limited or no connection" I tred to repare the problem but it won't work (Error msg is displayed saying it cant renew my ip) .I think i tried downloading patch from microsoft and up dating regedit by
    Windows Registory Editor Version 5.0
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet|Service\IPSec]
    "AssumeUDPEncapsulationContectOnSendRule"=dword00000002

    and rebooting the system but still nada Help plz

    your school probably does not use DHCP and you must hard code your IP address. Does your school know you are doing this?

    Talk to your school's student IT department. They most likely have a real domain-type network, with some fancy behind-the-scenes stuff that needs to be set just right for your system to access the network.

    You might also want to check to make sure that you don't have bypass proxy server for local addresses checked in LAN Settings inside the connections tab of internet options. Working helpdesk, I've really noticed this causing a problem for people trying to get an address through dhcp. Once the check is removed they almost instantly get an address. Don't know if that's your problem though. Need more info.
